Lego: Legends of Chima hits in 2013
Jan 2nd 2013, 16:43

Next game from Warner Bros. and TT Games to be split into three parts: 3DS/PS Vita game, iOS title, and free-to-play online offering.

Warner Bros. and TT Games are taking a different approach for their next project. The companies today jointly announced Lego: Legends of Chima, an entirely new intellectual property that will span three different titles for various platforms.

Lego: Legends of Chima is composed of three different experiences, the first of which carries a subtitle of "Speedorz." A racing minigame developed by TT Games and 4T2, Lego: Legends of Chima: Speedorz is available today at Lego.com and will arrive for iOS devices tomorrow.

The next is Lego: Legends of Chima: Laval's Journey. Also developed by TT Games, this title is due out for PlayStation Vita (summer 2013) and Nintendo 3DS (fall 2013). The game has players embarking on an adventure into the world of Chima where brave warrior Laval and company are called into a battle.

Third, Lego: Legends of Chima Online is a free-to-play online game developed by WB Games Montreal. It is due out in fall 2013 and will allow players to build and customize their own world, explore environments, and take on missions.

Lego: Legends of Chima is a departure from how Warner Bros. and TT Games have handled the Lego license recently. The most recent Lego games have been based on established properties, including Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, and others.

Fez going multiplatform
Jan 2nd 2013, 15:27

Polytron porting downloadable game to "other platforms" in 2013; creator Phil Fish teases the opening of a United States branch.

Fez will not be an Xbox 360-exclusive forever. Creator Phil Fish announced in a blog post that the puzzle-platform game will be ported to "other platforms" in 2013.

"Yes, I’ve heard you, dozens of people emailing me everyday [sic] telling me how much of an idiot I am for not porting Fez to everything," Fish wrote.

Fish also teased "exciting plans" for the game's soundtrack, as well as "something about a United States branch." The developer explained in his blog entry that he vacated his former workspace in Montreal, Canada at the end of the year.

Fez, which has sold over 100,000 units, is a 2D platformer built entirely using Microsoft's XNA tools in an 8-bit pixel art style. The game also adds a third dimension and lets players rotate the gameworld around the protagonist, Gomez. For more on the title, check out GameSpot's review.

PS2 discontinued in Japan
Jan 2nd 2013, 15:06

Sony no longer shipping prolific system in Island nation following launch in March 2000; no word on halts for other regions.

The PS2 launched in Japan during March 2000, and to date has shipped over 150 million units worldwide. More than 10,000 titles are available for the console, and Sony has sold in excess of 1.52 billion PS2 games since launch.

PS2 units continue to be produced and sold in other regions. No mention was made concerning when this may change. Though Sony has ceased PS2 shipments in Japan, the company continues to develop titles for the platform.

Black Ops II 'Revolution' DLC revealed
Jan 2nd 2013, 14:37

First downloadable expansion for latest Call of Duty reportedly will include four traditional maps, one zombie environment, and new weapon.

The first expansion for Call of Duty: Black Ops II will be titled "Revolution." That's according to leaked promotional material for the content, posted at All Games Beta.

According to the poster, the Revolution downloadable content will include four multiplayer maps (Hydro, Grind, Downhill, and Mirage), as well as a Zombie map called Rise.

In addition to the new killing spaces, the Revolution DLC will also reportedly add a new weapon called the Peacekeeper sub-machine gun.

Activision has not announced the Revolution DLC, and a representative was not immediately available to comment.

If the Revolution DLC is in fact Black Ops II's first expansion, it will be the first of four planned add-ons for the game. These are included with the $50 Black Ops II DLC season pass. All DLC for Black Ops II will arrive first on Xbox 360, with subsequent releases on other platforms.
