BioShock Infinite PC specs revealed
Jan 15th 2013, 16:05

The anticipated DirectX 11 game requires a quad-core processor and 4GB of RAM; also comes with support for cloud saves and Steam's Big Picture mode

BioShock Infinite's minimum and recommended PC specifications have been revealed, requiring a DirectX 10 compatible graphics card, 2GB of RAM, a Core 2 Duo/Athlon X2 and 20GB of hard drive space to play Irrational Games' latest on its lowest settings.

To hit the recommended level, however, gamers will need a quad-core processor, 4GB RAM, 30GB of hard drive space and a DirectX 11 graphics card, such as a GeForce GTX 560 or an Radeon 6950.

Irrational Games' technical director Chris Kline notes that no artificial mouse smoothing is applied, the game's UI can be navigated with keyboard and mouse or a controller, and you can switch back and forth between these inputs without having to pause the game.

BioShock Infinite will also be shipping with high-definition textures, though this does mean physical copies of the game will come on three DVDs. The game also makes full use of Steamworks, including cloud saves and support for Steam's Big Picture Mode.

"If I have any regrets, it’s that there are always more features that we wanted to add than we had time to implement," said Kline. "For example, some of the most requested PC features these days are in-game V-Sync and FOV adjustment controls. Unfortunately, given our tight sc--wait, never mind. We added those too!"

BioShock Infinite will be launching for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 26.

The specs in full:

BioShock Infinite minimum PC specs:

· OS: Windows Vista Service Pack 2 32-bit
· Processor: Intel Core 2 DUO 2.4 GHz / AMD Athlon X2 2.7 GHz
· Memory: 2 GB
· Hard Drive: 20 GB free
· Video Card: DirectX10 Compatible ATI Radeon HD 3870 / NVIDIA 8800 GT / Intel HD 3000 Integrated Graphics
· Video Card Memory: 512 MB

BioShock Infinite recommended PC specs:

Majesco shares dive
Jan 15th 2013, 15:35

Zumba Fitness publisher sees share value dip 34 percent after earnings report; confirms closure of Boston office, layoffs at QA facility.

Majesco shares tumbled 34 percent this morning to $0.69 a day after the Zumba Fitness publisher announced it would no longer provide quantitative financial data in its earnings reports moving forward.

"As a result of the weakness in demand for products on legacy console platforms and uncertainty around consumer adoption of the next-generation of consoles, management is modifying its practice of providing quantitative fiscal year revenue and earnings guidance," the company said in a statement. "Instead, for fiscal 2013, management is presenting a qualitative assessment of its outlook for financial results."

In addition, Majesco management said its effort to "better align operating costs with sales trends," has resulted in the closure of its social game studio in Foxboro, Massachusetts and layoffs at its quality assurance office in New Jersey. The closure of the Massachusetts office had been rumored earlier this month.

’Having successfully navigated through industry transitions and periods of uncertainty in the past, we believe it is prudent to preserve our financial resources as new platforms are deployed," a statement from company CEO Jesse Sutton reads.

As for specific financial results, for the fourth quarter ended October 31, Majesco saw net revenue rise 6 percent to $26.6 and a net loss of $2.7 million. Concerning the full year, Majesco net revenue jumped 6 percent to $132.3 million, with net income coming in at $4.4 million, compared to $11.1 million last year.

"Ultra collectible" version of zombie game coming exclusively to United Kingdom at launch in April; includes decapitated female statue.

Deep Silver today announced the Dead Island Riptide Zombie Bait edition, an "ultra collectible" version of the upcoming shooter due for release exclusively in the United Kingdom at launch on April 26, 2013. It will retail for £99.99 ($160).

Jailed Arma devs free on bail
Jan 15th 2013, 14:11

Czech media reports state Ivan Buchta and Martin Pezlar post bail and are released from Greek jail after 128 days of imprisonment.

Jailed Arma developers Ivan Buchta and Martin Pezlar have been freed from a Greek jail. Czech media reports today (compiled by a fan-created support site) state the two each posted a €5,000 ($6,686) bail, ending their 128-day imprisonment on spying charges.

A Bohemia Interactive representative told GameSpot, "Right now we're waiting for an official statement from Greece, but it's definitely a very positive turn of events."

Buchta and Pezlar were arrested on the Greek island of Lemnos in September for spying on a military compound. According to Greek reports, the pair were in possession of videos and photos of military compounds in Lemnos at the time of their arrest.

The Greek island is the main location for Bohemia Interactive's recently delayed shooter Arma III, with the two reportedly claiming that they were collecting reference material for the game.

Since their arrest, Bohemia Interactive has insisted that Buchta and Pezlar were on holiday, and did not enter any military areas or shoot any footage of military objects for use in Arma III.

Assassin's Creed movie gets writer
Jan 15th 2013, 13:23

British playwright Michael Lesslie adapting game for silver screen; director and producers still being sought.

The Assassin's Creed movie now has a writer. The Hollywood Reporter reveals New Regency and Ubisoft Motion Pictures have called on British playwright Michael Lesslie to adapt the popular game series for the big screen.

Lesslie penned Prince of Denmark for the theater, a prequel to William Shakespeare's iconic Hamlet. He also wrote a handful of short films, including Skirt and Heavy Metal Drummer.

In addition, New Regency and Ubisoft are still seeking a director and producers for the movie, which could launch as early as later this year.

Michael Fassbender (Shame, Inglourious Basterds) will play the lead role in the film, though other actors for the Assassin's Creed movie have not been announced.

UK retailer HMV enters administration
Jan 15th 2013, 10:39

Gift vouchers no longer accepted, but the troubled high-street retailer will keep all 239 stores open while it attempts to find a buyer.

One of the last main high-street entertainment retailers in the UK, HMV, has confirmed it will be entering administration today.

Gift vouchers will no longer be accepted, reports the BBC, which will likely be upsetting news for many so soon after Christmas. HMV will also stop selling gift vouchers as of today.

We're currently checking with HMV as to whether any pre-orders placed with the company will still be honoured.

In the short-term, all 239 stores will remain open while administrator Deloitte seeks to find a new buyer for the beleaguered chain. The jobs of the company's 4350 employees are also at risk.

The company, which was founded in 1921, has suspended trading on the London Stock Exchange.

HMV warned in December 2012 that it was suffering, and that it might possibly breach a series of loan arrangements with banks. Last week the company announced a month-long 25% off sale, but it was not enough to buoy the retailer's fortunes. "The board regrets to announce that it has been unable to reach a position where it feels able to continue to trade outside of insolvency protection," explained HMV in a statement.

In recent weeks entertainment chain Comet has also exited the high-street, and last year GAME entered administration but was saved at the last minute by the OpCapita group but at a cost of over 250 stores and 40% of its staff.
