The Wii U is struggling, but it's not because of the platform's name, according to Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. Asked by Kotaku if naming the console Wii 2 would have helped matter, Fils-Aime said, "The challenges we're facing with Wii U are not issues of the name." Fils-Aime added that Wii U sales in the United States stand at 1.5 million units, fewer than half of the system's 3.61 million worldwide global sales. It's not the name that is keeping the Wii U from growing in popularity, but rather a lack of compelling software that makes use of the GamePad, Fils-Aime said. "The issue is the lack of a steady rate of software launches to motivate the consumer to drive buzz and engagement and to highlight the wide variety of uses of the GamePad. That's the issue," he said. Yesterday, Nintendo announced a price cut for the Wii U, dropping the 32GB system to $300, while the $250 8GB model will be phased out. Nintendo recently dated a number of high-profile first-party games, including Super Mario 3D World (November 22) and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (December 6). The company also announced a brand-new handheld: the Nintendo 2DS. Aiden Pearce, the main character in Ubisoft's upcoming open-world action game Watch Dogs, is not specifically a good person, but nor is he inherently evil, according to the developer. Senior producer Dominic Guay explained in a new ZoomIn Games video interview that Ubisoft was inspired by Dexter from Showtime's Dexter and Walter White from AMC's Breaking Bad for Aiden. "The way we designed him is that he would not necessarily be a good guy or a bad guy," Guay said. "So we're inspired by characters like Dexter or the series like Breaking Bad, where the main character is not necessarily a good guy, but he's a person with flaws, with qualities; someone we can relate to and that you will bond with even though he does sometimes things that are not necessarily good." Guay explained that Aiden will "evolve" throughout the course of the game, with players able to determine, to an extent, just how much the character will change. "But Aiden is not a bad guy," Guay added. "He becomes a vigilante, so he is there to inflict his justice on the city of Chicago." Watch Dogs launches for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC on November 19. The Xbox One and PS4 versions will be released as launch titles for those platforms. Ubisoft expects the game to sell more than 6.2 million units. For more, check out GameSpot's previous coverage of Watch Dogs. Showtime is owned by GameSpot parent company CBS Corp. Lego Minifigures Online--the all-new MMO from Age of Conan and The Secret World developer Funcom--will launch during the second half of 2014, it was announced today. The game will be available on PC, iOS, and Android at launch. A business model was not announced. Lego Minifigures Online is based on the Lego minifigures line of real-world toys. These toys will include a code to download a virtual version as a playable character in the game. Players will be able to collect around 100 characters in all, and can swap between three playable characters at any given moment during the game. Lego Minifigures Online will also feature PvP, though Funcom said it would talk more about this component later in the year. The game was originally announced last year. A Lego MMO game has been attempted before. In October 2010, NetDevil launched Lego Universe, but the game had a short life. In November 2011, the Lego Group announced it would be shuttering the game. It managed to attract 2 million users, but failed to set up a satisfactory revenue model, developers said. For more on Lego Minifigures Online, check out the video below.
