Staff-only white console offered free to full-time employees; Major Nelson says white systems may release in the future.
Employees at Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB) will each receive a limited-edition white Xbox One this year, according to a post on Reddit.
The Xbox One Employee Ship Gift includes a white console, with matching Xbox One controller, black Kinect unit, one year of Xbox Live Gold access, all first-party games, and an unspecified bonus achievement. The packs will be provided free to full-time staff working for the division in December this year. A small line of text next to the console's optical drive says, "I made this. Launch team 2013."
Asked by posters whether a white version of the system will ever be sold to consumers, Xbox director of programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb responded, "maybe waaaay in the future".
No mention was made as to whether the new collection will also include the upcoming Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2, Digistruct Peak Challenge, or next piece of downloadable content, TK Baha's Bloody Harvest. A release date has not been confirmed.
A 2K spokesperson was unavailable to verify the rumour at time of publication. Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition launched one year after the original game went on sale.

"A 'Game of the Year Edition' of Halo 4 will be offered this October, offering tremendous value for fans who want to enjoy one of the most critically acclaimed games of 2012, and additional DLC all in one place," a Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement. The original story is below.
Microsoft will release a $50 Halo 4 Game of the Year Edition in October for Xbox 360, if a leaked image provided to IGN is any indication.
A source provided an image to the site, which suggests the unannounced bundle will include Spartan Ops Season 1, a War Games Map Pass, the Halo 4 Champions Bundle, and digital content released as preorder bonuses and in the Halo 4 Limited Edition.
Retailer confirms all store managers will receive next-generation console and games for free at launch this holiday season.
All GameStop managers will receive a PlayStation 4 unit and seven games at launch, the retailer confirmed with Joystiq, after an original announcement at the GameStop Expo today in Las Vegas.
A GameStop spokesperson told Joystiq, "Beyond is for PS3, all others are for PS4. Some are physical and some are digital vouchers."
To prepare its employees for the impending arrival of the Xbox One and PS4, GameStop president Tony Bartel said last week that the company's 4,400 store managers in the United States will receive hands-on training with both platforms.
"We will continue to be the most knowledgeable source for buying a new console and related games and accessories," Bartel said.
The Xbox One and PS4 will launch in November. It is not clear if GameStop managers will also receive an Xbox One and games.
Korean player Lee "INnoVation" Shin Hyung expected to join Team Acer on September 1.
Professional Korean StarCraft player Lee "INnoVation" Shin Hyung, currently signed to Korean team STX Soul under the Korean eSports Association (KeSPA), is expected to join Team Acer on September 1 when his current contract runs out, sources close to the situation tell GameSpot.
Team Acer, named after the multinational hardware and electronics company, has been teasing the announcement since the beginning of Blizzard's Season 2 World Championship Series Finals, stating the player would be officially announced by the end of the tournament. Acer thereafter released a new statement, stating it could not officially announce the signing yet due to issues with STX Soul.
"The player in question is still under contract with his old team until the end of August, a fact that was not entirely certain until today, so he will officially join Team Acer on the 1st of September," the statement read. "The team requested that we announce matters in this order, waiting until the official end of his contract before making public that he is joining our team."
In response to Acer's teases announcements, a representative from STX told Fomos.co.kr, "There was contact [to Acer], but there was no progress in detail on the contract. It seems there was a personal contact to the player while he was in Germany. We were flustered by [Acer]'s article."
Barring any unforeseen problems arising from the announcement of an announcement, Lee will continue to join the team when his contract with STX Soul ends on September 1.
Secondary reports from Fomos indicating that STX may shut down its StarCraft team due to financial problems have yet to be confirmed. STX Soul defeated Woongjin Stars earlier this month to become the 2012-2013 SK Planet Proleague Season 1 Champions.
Lee is the champion of WCS Season 1, and runner-up of WCS Korea Season 2. He finished 9-16th in this past weekend’s WCS Season 2 Finals.
Lee's addition to Team Acer joins a cast that includes Canadian superstar Sasha "Scarlett" Hostyn, and GSL Champion Mun "MMA" Seong Won.
Team Acer declined comment to GameSpot regarding the signing. Officials from KeSPA did not return comment by the time of this posting.
