Alien: Isolation to star Ellen Ripley's daughter - Report
Oct 21st 2013, 19:48

Alien: Isolation, which was revealed through a trademark application today, will star the daughter of fictional space marine Ellen Ripley, according to a Kotaku source.

Ellen Ripley was played by Sigourney Weaver in Ridley Scott's 1979 film Alien.

In Alien: Isolation, gamers will play as Amanda Ripley on a single space station, taking on aliens, clones, and soldiers, according to the tipster. Vents, lockers, and melee weapons are a major part of the game, which is inspired by Alien, the source said.

According to Kotaku's source, Alien: Isolation is in fact Creative Assembly's previously announced Aliens game and will be released on current- and next-generation consoles, as was rumored.

The game is reportedly inspired by Dishonored and BioShock, focusing on both stealth and horror gameplay. Kotaku points out that this information is six months old and could very well have changed.

Kotaku's source also said that Sega took "very seriously" the feedback from Aliens: Colonial Marines, which was poorly received by critics at launch earlier this year.

The game--developed by Gearbox Software and the now-bankrupt TimeGate Studios--was released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in February, shipping 1.31 million copies to date. The Wii U version was canceled.

The source said Sega isn't keen to release another poorly received Aliens games and even delayed Isolation once already. Sega reportedly planned to announce the game during the 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo in June.

The rumored game's status is currently unknown.
