Rockstar aiming to release GTA Online patch tomorrow Oct 4th 2013, 01:35 Developer says it is currently working on title update for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 that will address reported issues.
Some of Grand Theft Auto Online's numerous bugs and issues could be patched out as early as tomorrow, October 4, Rockstar Games said today. "We're currently working on a title update for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 to address commonly reported issues with GTA Online," the developer said in an update on its website. "We hope to have it out for download as soon as tomorrow." GTA Online--the multiplayer mode for Grand Theft Auto V--has been beset with numerous issues since launch on Tuesday. In some cases, players have not been able to access the mode at all. Yesterday, Rockstar removed microtransactions from GTA Online. The launch issues for GTA Online were expected. Ahead of release last week, Rockstar said players should expect various "growing pains," including crashes, glitches, "crazy bugs," and gameplay modes and mechanics that need rebalancing. These issues are "inevitable," Rockstar said at the time, due to the "massive" nature of the open-world game. Longtime Fable series steward Peter Molyneux, who left Lionhead Studios and Microsoft last year, has voiced his support of the idea for Xbox One game Fable Legends. "I'm a fan. I like the idea, it seems to be a playful idea, and I'm gonna be fascinated to see how that evolves," Molyneux told Joystiq. "Until they make a game and I can get my hands on it‘ then maybe I'll think to myself 'Oh God why did they do this and that?' But at the moment I'm intrigued and fascinated." Unlike past entries in the series, Fable Legends will be multiplayer-focused game that features four-player co-op in an "online world." A fifth player can take the role of a villain, viewing Fable Legends from a top-down perspective and can play the game from a SmartGlass tablet. Lionhead Studios lead designer Ted Timmins told GameSpot at E3 in June that Molyneux remains a friend of the studio. Timmins said Molyneux played Xbox 360 game Fable Anniversary and gave it a "thumbs up." Fable Legends does not have a release date, though Lionhead has confirmed a beta for the game will begin in 2014. Meanwhile, Fable Anniversary is set to release on Xbox 360 in February 2014. Rockstar North has "some ideas" for a potential follow-up to last month's Grand Theft Auto V, but won't be discussing them anytime soon, as Grand Theft Auto Online is the company's focus right now. "We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do," Benzies told Develop in a new interview. "We don't know what GTA VI will be, but we've got some ideas. GTA Online is the focus right now." In addition to GTA Online, Benzies said Rockstar is working on other content surrounding GTAV. "Plus, we have some other things--stuff, DLC, I don't know how to describe it exactly--that we'd like to do, and we'll pick the right ones," he said. GTAV was released last month and generated $800 million in 24 hours and $1 billion in three days. GTA Online launched earlier this week and has been beset by various stability issues. Rockstar is "working around the clock" to fix the bugs, the company said this week. Read and Post Comments | Get the full article at GameSpot | |
